Pasto Colombia

Pasto is the capital of the Nariño Department in southern Colombia. This charming city offers several stunning churches, great day trips into the beautiful surrounding nature, and some very good dining options. Pasto is considered an important religious and cultural center of southwestern Colombia. Among its many richly decorated colonial churches, the most notable are the Iglesia de Cristo Rey and the Iglesia de San Juan Bautista. The city center features an attractive collection of fine colonial buildings as well as a lively downtown area. Pasto also has a small but well‑curated Gold Museum (Museo de Oro) with gold and pottery pieces from the region. About 30 minutes from the city is Lake La Cocha. La Cocha offers wonderful scenery with mountains, vibrant colors, and clear waters. Just offshore lies La Corota Island, a protected nature reserve that showcases a wide variety of the region’s flora and fauna.
